3 REASONS YOU NEED A FRIDGE IN YOUR MASTER SUITE

Luxury design takes basic functionality to the next level with details, finishes and selections that surpass expectations. A growing trend that combines function and luxury places refrigeration in a previously unlikely space: the master bathroom.

If you haven’t yet heard about this trend, you will—it actually makes a lot of sense.

Following are three smart and practical ways to add refrigeration to your bathroom—and the reasons you should.

REASON #1: YOUR MORNING CUP OF COFFEE IS JUST A FEW STEPS AWAY

Design: Regina Kurtz, ASID at Alpha Design Group, San Diego

If you are a coffee/tea lover and just can't seem to get your day started before you have your first cup, consider creating a dedicated beverage station in your master suite. Imagine having your creamer or milk for frothing just a few steps away from your bed—or a bottle of Champagne in arm’s reach of your bathtub for that morning mimosa.

Perlick, a 100-year-old company with roots in the commercial hospitality industry, offers refrigeration units with stainless steel or cabinet panel fronts to blend seamlessly into any bathroom decor. All of the company's products are built to the same standards demanded by commercial bars and restaurants, but with a refined look, perfect for any room of the home, including your bathroom.

Also, each unit has a sleek, stainless steel interior and exterior, which not only presents beautifully, but also ensures durability, sanitation and resistance to stains and odors. The two-inch thick, foamed-in-place insulated walls of the units provide industry-leading protection against outside ambient and vibration. Not only does this feature keep what you're storing in the unit cool, but it can also protect it from shower humidity. A win-win.

REASON #2: SOME VITAMINS AND MEDICATIONS REQUIRE REFRIGERATION

Both my parents have diabetes, so they have to take their insulin shots several times a day. The insulin vials have to be refrigerated, and they often take their medication from the kitchen into their bedroom so that they can have some privacy as they do the injections. I can't help but think that having a small Perlick unit in their master bathroom would be so much more convenient for them.

One option for smaller spaces is Perlick's Signature Series Sottile line of 18" depth under-counter refrigeration, which offers solutions for spaces that couldn't accommodate a traditional 24" deep unit.

The Sottile - available in refrigerator, beverage center and wine reserve models - is the only unit in its class that features a unique, slim profile to provide far greater design flexibility than standard 24" depth models, without sacrificing storage capacity.

REASON #3: MAKEUP STAYS FRESHER WHEN KEPT IN COOLER TEMPERATURES

I have a confession... I hate wearing makeup!

But I have to wear at least a few basics on a daily basis to look presentable, and when I'm preparing for a photo shoot or a speaking engagement, I turn to the beauty gurus on YouTube for guidance.

Applying makeup is a true art form, and I've watched enough videos to know that getting the best coverage is directly related to the quality and freshness of the product. So, it makes sense to me that storing your makeup and other beauty products in a refrigerated drawer in your bathroom gives you longer product life and better results. Products like the Perlick 15" Signature Series Indoor Refrigerator Drawers are super convenient and would be ideal at a vanity with a knee-hole.

DESIGN IN ACTION

Now that you've seen a few of the reasons refrigeration in the bathroom makes sense, let me show you how I would design my dream bathroom around some of my favorite Perlick products.

This luxury bathroom not only features high-end materials and fixtures, it also features three cleverly placed Perlick products.

ZONE #1: The Beverage Station

CI zone3
This area of the bathroom is the dedicated beverage station and includes a Perlick 24" Signature Series Beverage Center. The door has a custom panel to seamlessly integrate with the other cabinetry in the space.

I see this space as the staging area for that morning cup of coffee, the after-work cocktail and the occasional glass of wine in the evening.

ZONE #2: The Medication Vanity

Each vanity area is fairly symmetrical with just a slight difference for the user. The vanity on the right has a 15" Signature Series Indoor Refrigerator. This unit would be ideal to hold vitamins, medications and bottles of water to make taking those daily doses super easy.

ZONE #3: The Makeup Vanity

The other vanity has the 15" Signature Series Indoor Refrigerator Drawers that would be perfect for storing makeup, lotions, sliced cucumbers, and eye masks.

I hope after reading this post you feel like you have an appreciation for Perlick's top-of-the-line products, as well as the benefits of refrigeration in the master suite.

Do you feel like this post was an "aha" moment for you? Would you ever consider bringing refrigeration into your bathroom? What other creative ways would you integrate Perlick products throughout the home?
