Perlick Corporation Shines on 90th Anniversary with Energy Star Savings

MILWAUKEE, WI – June 24, 2007 – Perlick Corporation, celebrating its 90thAnniversary, surpassed Energy Star standards by an average of 23.7% on its products receiving the Energy Star award. Perlick, a leader in the commercial refrigeration industry, has always committed itself to energy efficiency. “We are proud to announce our Energy Star award on numerous products as a measure of today’s performance,” touts Lawrence M. “According to Energy Star, when you compare standard models to Energy Star models, Energy Star commercial solid door refrigerators and freezers can lead to energy savings of as much as 45%, states Scott Ehaney, Project Engineer. “Our best model is the R24 Front Load Refrigerator which surpasses the Energy Star standard by 64.4%. Perlick applied for a partnership with Energy Star in the commercial refrigeration category and has been awarded Energy Star approval on several back bar coolers, bottle coolers, a pass through cooler and a single door refrigerator. All of these models are solid door units. Perlick has begun to label its Energy Star models according to the required standards.

“Our intentions are to get Energy Star on our glass door units and direct draw beer dispensers upon release of the next standard in January 2008,” says Ehaney. Perlick Corporation has tested its glass door cabinets, beer dispensers and frosters for California Energy and passed.

Perlick’s design standards made it easy for them to exceed Energy Star standards. “We use high-efficiency compact fluorescent lighting and two inches of insulation in our cabinets and doors. Our superior thermal-break design does a better job at separating the cold zone (inside of the cabinet) from the warm zone (outside of cabinet). This improves efficiency. We use some of the highest Energy Efficiency Rating (EER) compressors in their class, resulting in less energy cost. Our door gaskets and magnets are stronger, creating a better seal, to keep the cold air in. Tops are positively sealed to the cabinet, preventing air infiltration from the outside to the inside of cabinets,” declares Ehaney.
